Dracolith,

Well, the NFL and it's teams haul around a lot of equipment everywhere
already, so what is one more BladeCenter S on the truck(s)?! Disk
damage via vibration is a big concern. They better have backup copies
of their data, and I'm sure they remove the disks while in transit.

Your point about remote access is a good one,
But with all the photos and filming the coaches use and need how do
you guarentee a fat pipe everywhere you go.

Of course, Cisco is now in a lot of stadiums via a deal last year too,
so everything from Teleprescense to wireless access is stadium wide at
each location - or soon will be.

Here's a thought though: for a competitive advantage on game day would
a home team snoop a stadium network? Hack the visiting teams
communications and systems?

Interesting!

That's kind of cool.

For some reason I would expect an org like the NFL would want to leave servers at a home office and access them remotely though.. get two fast redundant network connections to whatever site they will operate in.. and: perfect application for cloud computing.

Hauling around blade systems seems risky; considering one of the most common reasons for hardware failures is damage done to equipment while it is being transported.

And mechanical hard disks in particular...
