Dracolith,

I believe that is one of the main points of the cloud - not have to script, configure, build, or even administer the infrastructure. Through the VMware APIs, tools, plugins, etc ISVs and OEMs are partnering to build the architecture and make it seamless.

To use your example, right click and the cloud will "grind and brew" without you even knowing about it. All you have to do is "take your cup".

Hopefully, orchestration isn't all they've got in the pipeline for Project Redwood.
For vCloud to really reach its potential... worrying about Fencing and vOrchestrator, is premature -- if they haven't gotten the basics first.

Like building a coffee machine that can automatically grind the beans, self-fill the tank, heat the water, and display detailed temperature graphs.. Want your machine to be able to actually brew coffee? Just wait, we think that feature might be available a few versions later, as a separate add-on product (vBrew)....

One method of migrating a VM to the cloud should appear to be almost the same as migrating a VM between two storage clusters managed by the same vCenter. Which should also be available the same UI as migrating a VM from datacenter to datacenter.

vCenter linked mode is a start.
Other than IP addressing.... the datacenter a VM happens to live in at any particular moment should become just as unimportant and ephemeral as the physical host a VM happens to lives in at any particular moment in a DRS cluster.

In other words:
Right click VM > Migrate.

Not go into Orchestrator or Lab manager, and invoke some script just to make a simple file transfer.
