Good idea on the FB page. I left the following comment on Host Profiles there too...

There are, of course, 3rd party solutions available that can do some of the things that Host Profiles do and don't require Enterprise+ or even ESX4.

I would venture a guess that your suggestion of using the evaluation mode for Host Profiles before applying your license would be a EULA violation (I'm not sure, I just have some experience w/ the ... Read Morewording of VMware's EULA).

What are the most important features of Host Profiles that you'd like to see a 3rd party provide at a fraction of the cost of Enterprise+?

I am still working out the FB kinks too. I have not been updating the VM /ETC page until yesterday so that is probably why you have not seen any updates, but I guess I don't understand the difference between wall postings and fan updates. I'm a fan of VM /ETC on my personal FB page and I get the RSS aggregation and the wall updates in my friend feed there.

I just double checked my page settings and did not see anything that would restrict content to fans. If you know what I need to check please point it out! Thanks for becoming a fan!

Rich – I've added your Facebook Mini Blog to VMwareInfo's Fan page Favorites.

It'll be interesting to see which posts go to FB and which stay here for the wider audience. For me, I use my facebook page as another subscription tool for readers who aren't as familiar with RSS but are active Facebook users.
