Online VMware License File Checker

My VMware License Files ScreenshotServer-based License File Checker is an online VMware tool that let’s you check your centralized ESX license file(s). This tool is most helpful when you have downloaded multiple .lic files and need to manually combine them into one file. This usually is the case when several different employees have purchased VMware licenses and each person’s VMware log on is attached to separate orders. When this happens you can not access all of your company’s licenses to combine them from the licensing portal.

As described on the tool’s web page:

This tool will take a pasted license file and parse, reformat, and attempt to repair it. It will also give you statistics regarding the total number of licenses found and highlight inconsistencies that could potentially cause issues.

Currently, this utility only handles “server-based” license files (used with VirtualCenter). Host-based licenses that stand-alone on a single server are not supported at this time.

For a tutorial about how to manually combine your license files check out Vitrix.

Also check out a Product Licensing Demo from VMware.

Of course you can always call VMware Support and explain to them that you need to combine multiple orders under one log on. After Support does this you can then use the License Portal to combine orders into a single .lic file.
